Organic forms and craftsmanship
Jette Scheib is an internationally recognised product designer with a distinctive ability to translate forms from nature into poetic and functional design objects. Her work is characterised by a keen sense of materiality, organic silhouettes and an appreciation of the atmosphere that light can create within a space.
At Le Klint, her organic design language meets a Danish design tradition where hand-folded lampshades and skilled craftsmanship have been at the heart of our work for more than 80 years. The collaboration is rooted in a shared belief that lighting should be functional, evocative and timeless.
About Jette Scheib
Jette Scheib studied product design at the University of the Arts Berlin and established her own design studio after graduating in 2005. Over the past two decades, she has collaborated with a range of international companies within furniture, interiors and lighting, developing products with a focus on function, materials and the relationship people have with the objects that surround them.
For a period, she returned to the university as a lecturer before once again focusing on her own design studio. Today, she lives and works in the Netherlands, where she continues to develop international design projects.
Design Philosophy
For Jette Scheib, design starts with observation. She draws inspiration from the organic structures of nature, the rhythms of everyday life and the ways in which people interact with their surroundings.
Her work explores the balance between function and emotion, simplicity and character. Each product is designed to be intuitive to use while bringing warmth, personality and a sense of calm to the space.
This approach naturally aligns with Le Klint’s design tradition, where materials, craftsmanship and the quality of light come together. The folding technique is not simply a method of production, but a defining part of the design and its identity.

At Le Klint, every new design collaboration is rooted in a shared respect for craftsmanship and a desire to create lighting that stands the test of time – both aesthetically and functionally.
Jette Scheib’s organic design language brings a natural complement to Le Klint’s distinctive folding tradition. Her exploration of structure, rhythm and soft forms creates a dialogue with the hand folded lampshades that continue to be crafted in Odense, Denmark.
Together, we explore new possibilities within traditional craftsmanship, creating contemporary designs that build on Le Klint’s heritage while looking towards the future.
Urchina
Urchina marks Jette Scheib’s first design for Le Klint, inspired by the distinctive form of the sea urchin – a natural shape that brings together geometric structure and organic softness.

The design starts with a single, flat sheet, which is transformed through Le Klint’s signature hand-folding technique into a sculptural, voluminous shade. The rhythm of the folds gives the surface a sense of movement, while the light highlights its structure and creates a warm, gentle glow.
Urchina demonstrates how forms found in nature can be reimagined through skilled craftsmanship. Its distinctive folds echo the spines of a sea urchin, while the soft, rounded volume gives the lamp calm and sculptural presence in the
space.
