Lamp of the year nominee
Caleo – A sculptural lighting design, by Rikke Frost, has been nominated as 'Lamp Of The Year' within the lighting category, of the Danish Design Awards 2019.
This recognition is awarded annually, to a designer who has fused innovation with a choice of materials to create a great design that provides optimal lighting to suit any modern home.
Caleo was runner up on the popular TV competition show ‘Denmark’s Next Classic’ where a lamp had to be created to hang over a dining table. Rikke’s design combined a brass angular bar that held the pleating together, so that the pleating effect could be rotated at a 90 degree angle.
The lamp is an obvious choice for use above the dining table with the possibility of both gathering and spreading the light in relation to the number of people around the table.
Rikke Frost went on to win the grand prize in another category, but it became quite obvious to her after the rave reviews she had received, regarding her lighting design, that she had to collaborate with Le Klint and their infamous pleating technicians, to refine and complete her vision, that consists of the classic pleating designs and structures, which has now become a finalized Le Klint product and a series, that will be ready for the autumn season 2019.
